About the project

Kym Ormond, a passionate permaculturist and community educator in Adelaide, South Australia, needed a one-stop online space to showcase his sustainable living offerings — from permaculture workshops and community education sessions to the Nomad Nursery – an edible plant nursery in Carey Gulley.

 

Kym’s goal is to make sustainable living accessible through hands-on workshops, permaculture gardening, cooking, and craft. The website is therefore essential in establishing credibility, highlighting his years of expertise, and providing a clear, welcoming space for people to explore his services, make enquiries and join upcoming workshops.

 

We built Kym’s site using our Earth one-week Squarespace design, crafted specifically for eco businesses. This versatile base design allowed us to create a central digital space for Kym, with pages for his workshop facilitation and the Nomad Nursery.

In addition, we added an events page where upcoming workshops are listed, complete with links to Humanitix for ticket purchasing.

Throughout the process, we helped refine Kym’s brand colours to ensure they meet accessibility standards, creating an inclusive, visually appealing experience for visitors. To capture Kym’s fun and down-to-earth personality, we added tasteful animations and our favourite touch – a rotating gallery with hilarious selfies.

 

The final design is not only cohesive and easy for Kym to manage but also reflects his DIY and grassroots ethos in a fun, playful way. With this new website, visitors can have a giggle while feeling inspired, informed, and empowered to join his journey towards a more sustainable world.
