Three ways to make your website rank higher in Google Search

If you're about to invest in a new website and one of your goals is to become more discoverable through search, then here are three areas to keep in mind as you're preparing, building and launching your website.

 01.

Written Words

This is where working with a copywriter who is experienced in SEO is recommended. They can look at your existing analytics, conduct keyword research for your industry and audience, weave these keywords into your copy and help you to structure the content to improve discoverability and conversions once someone actually lands on your site.

We recommend speaking to your web designer before hiring a copywriter – find out why here.

02.

Website design

This is your web designer’s job. Things like site structure, heading structure, image optimisation, meta tags and descriptions, page optimisation, number of words on the page, submitting a site map, alt-text, and other accessibility techniques all need to be considered for SEO when designing and building a website.

At Alana Jade Studio, all our Squarespace designs follow SEO best practices. Take a look at our designs here.

03.

Backlinks

This is where someone links back to your website from their website. Map out a plan of ways to create backlinks to your site. Some ideas might be to get yourself listed in directories for your industry, guest blogging, creating YouTube videos, posting on Pinterest or doing interviews.

Bonus Tip.

Blogging

Goggle pays attention to websites that are regularly updated with helpful and relevant content. This is where blogging comes in. Bonus points if you focus on writing blogs that are about topics related to your main services (and – from the blog post – link back to your relevant service or sales page… just like I’ve done in point 2 above).

Business owners often tell us they don’t want to start a blog because they feel like they will have to post there all the time and they are busy enough. We get that! But what if your blog could actually help you to save time and create more space – in your schedule, your inbox and your creations? This article explains how.

A final note:

Becoming discoverable through search is a combination of good web design, well-researched and well-written copy and messaging, well-planned marketing, plus regular monitoring (and tweaking where needed). It takes consistency and it does take time.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need some help in this area, reach out. We have a team of copywriters, digital marketing strategists and designers who can help.
