Kind words from our one-week website clients
"Honestly the best customer service experience, ever. Your communication was 10/10, and the whole process was so organised and easy to navigate. I felt 100% confident in what was happening the whole way through. The videos to explain everything are excellent. And, of course, I’m so happy with the design handed over at the end.”

The one-week website design process for clients could be a great option for you if:
You’re just starting out and your confidence isn’t high – you want to grow your business in a way that feels safe while building your confidence.
You’re highly sensitive, neurodivergent or recovering from burnout – long, drawn-out projects with loads of screen time probably don’t suit your nervous system so traditional website design processes and business models don’t work.
You’re struggling to set boundaries with clients – this results in scope creep, budget and timeline blowouts, leaving you feeling resentful and burnt out.
You’re spending too much time quoting for custom projects with little return.
The current economy makes it difficult to sell profitable custom projects but your don’t want to sacrifice on quality.
You struggle to get the right information from clients at the right time – leaving you frustrated and stressed and causing projects to drag on.
You’re balancing a day job while starting a design business on the side – you need a sustainable, profitable business model that doesn’t consume all your time.
You have trauma from past projects – these experiences have made you second-guess yourself and your capabilities.
You’ve been working long hours with inadequate pay – despite putting in super long hours, you’re still only just scraping by financially.
The one-week website model changed my business – and health.
Hello there! I’m Alana – an Australian Squarespace web designer, with a passion for minimalist business practices and simple, kind living.
At the time of starting my web design business, I was recovering from burnout and couldn’t work more than five hours a day. While I loved everything about web design, it wasn’t feasible for me to grow a profitable business doing custom designed website projects, when my work hours were limited… and in a way that was gentle on my nervous system and nurturing to my health.
As a web designer, you know that custom website design projects are often not gentle on our systems or conducive to our wellbeing. Pouring hours into quoting, keeping up with multiple client requests and projects, juggling timelines and scope, writing lines of code (and all the rest!) – all while having to stay in your creative flow, does not often create a calm working environment.
And that’s how I discovered the one-week website model
Four years on, with 100+ one-week websites under my belt, I’d say I’ve ‘cracked the code’. I’ve spent this time not just perfecting and fine-tuning this web design client process, but creating everything that goes alongside it (hello ease-filled and editable templates!).
I now share what I’ve learnt with other web designers so you too can start scaling your business, earning more money, having more time for you, feel creatively fulfilled and care for your health, all while getting fantastic results and raving reviews from your clients.

"I felt supported the entire time and clear about every step of the process. The entire process was really organised and communication was outstanding. I love that you have thought of every little thing and had lots of helpful hints, articles and videos to cover everything.”
Marcella Jane, Sunday Muse Studio – photographer, Albury, NSW, Australia
Since starting my business in 2019, the one-week web design model has allowed me the freedom and flexibility to:
Heal from burnout, while building a business gently and calmly in a way that felt safe and gentle on my nervous system.
Finally save money while also investing back into my business to create more products and offerings.
Spend 18 months travelling through Asia – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka and hiking in the Himalayas.
Campervan my way through Germany, Italy, Croatia and France.
And now I live a digital nomad lifestyle, between a little island in Thailand and Brisbane, Australia.
All while working minimal hours and still earning a sustainable income. None of which, I believe, could have been possible for me if I was running a traditional web design business.

Sure does! The website design schedule document gives you an insider’s look into the entire process – what steps I take, why I do these steps and the timeline for each step – from initial sales enquiry, through to website handover and follow up. Plus you get the supporting email scripts and document templates needed to complete each step. I know there’s a lot to consider when adding one-week websites to your offerings, which is why I’ve done as much of the work for you as I can, to guide you through all stages of the client journey and build process.
-
This process teaches how to deliver a one-week website to a client, guiding you through all stages of the client journey – selling, building, reviewing and handing over a one-week website to a client with ease.
It does not teach you how to create a website template and it does not include website templates. To learn how to create a website template, I highly recommend Standout Squarespace (that’s an affiliate link btw!). Students have combined Rache’s course with my one-week web design process, giving them the tools to create a website template and then sell and deliver a website using that template — literally giving you everything you need to start offering one-week websites to your clients.
-
You sure can! When you purchase the process and document template bundle, you are also purchasing a license to use the words inside. The wording is the exact wording I use and has been crafted and refined from my own experience of creating 100+ one-week websites. This is a tried and tested web design client process that works.
You don’t have to write your own emails or proposal content or second-guess your process. You can simply just follow the templates, plug in your business and client details and you’re good to go.
In saying that, please note that the process and wording can only be used for your client projects and process. The information cannot be shared, sold or repurposed for use on your website as either sales page copy or as a free resource (like blog articles or on social media) or paid resource (like courses or coaching).
-
The proposal, welcome guide and handover templates come in three formats:
Adobe XD
Figma
Canva
You’ll also receive instructional videos on how to edit the template to bring it into alignment with your brand.
The email scripts and website starter kit documents are in editable Google doc format so you can easily copy and paste the emails and adjust the planners and questionnaires for your own clients.
-
Whether you offer one-week websites on Squarespace, Wordpress, Wix or something else, these templates will very much still work for you.
The web design client process and document templates are not platform specific. They focus purely on the client process of delivering a one-week website and support you in clearly communicating with your clients. Some sections do mention Squarespace (because I’m a Squarespace designer), but you can easily swap this out for your preferred platform.

However, when purchasing the templates you agree to only use the process and wording inside for your client projects and process. The information cannot be shared, sold or repurposed for use on your website as either sales page copy or as a free resource (like blog articles or on social media) or paid resource (like courses or coaching).

A smooth web design client onboarding process makes everything that follows easier – for you, and for your client. I’ve learned over the years that when clients are prepared with strong branding, thoughtful copy, and high-quality images, the website design process flows more smoothly, the outcome is stronger, and the client feels genuinely excited to launch.
That’s why onboarding a client isn’t just a checklist – it’s a critical part of the web design client process. For me, it begins right after the sales call. I send a clear, professional proposal that outlines what we discussed, plus a transparent breakdown of what’s included in the website package. This sets expectations and creates clarity before we even begin.
Once the project is booked, clients receive a structured onboarding experience through my Website Welcome Guide and Starter Kit. These include copywriting planners, an image checklist, branding requirements and guided questionnaires – everything they need to gather their content with ease. It’s not just helpful for the client – it also saves you from the back-and-forth that happens when pieces are missing or off-brand.
This kind of structure isn’t about being rigid – it’s about creating space for creativity within a clear container. It helps prevent scope creep, supports your time and energy, ensures the client prepares high-quality content and gives your clients a sense of calm and safety in what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming process.
In a nutshell: having a repeatable website design process for clients creates better outcomes and more ease for everyone involved.
-
A big part of my marketing happens quietly — through Google searches and client referrals. My website design sales pages are intentionally designed with strong SEO in mind, targeting specific industries I love working with (like therapists, photographers, and eco-aligned businesses). That means I often show up when someone’s searching for exactly what I offer – and they land on a page that not only speaks their language but shows them the exact design they’re investing in.
Referrals are the other piece. Because my process is calm, clear, and thoughtfully structured, clients often tell their friends and peers about it. They feel supported from the moment they enquire, and that experience tends to ripple outward.
I find marketing one-week websites, in many ways, simpler than custom websites. This is because clients can see the design before they commit. That visual clarity, combined with a streamline web design client process, helps create a sense of calm and trust – which is often what people need most when making a big investment like a new website.
If you’re starting out, think about how you can build trust with both words and visuals. Show the full picture of what it’s like to work with you through your portfolio and across your website. Make it as easy as possible for the right people to find you (hello SEO!). And create a professional website design client process that builds immediate trust.
-
One thing I used to dread when offering fully custom web design was quoting. It could take hours to craft a proposal – only to hear crickets. One of the biggest gifts of refining my web design client process into a fixed-scope, fixed-schedule service (like my one-week websites) is that there’s no need to quote. The pricing is clear from the start – for both you and the client.
Fixed pricing takes the emotional labour and uncertainty out of selling. You’re not constantly reinventing the wheel or negotiating scope. You have a process, a timeline, and a clear outcome – and clients love it. They know what to expect, what’s included, and what their investment will be.
If you’re wondering how to price your own web design services, a fixed pricing model can be a powerful foundation. You can still allow space for custom requests by offering clearly scoped, fixed-price design days or add ons like SEO, branding, scheduling tools, e-commerce functionality, or extra pages. That way, your clients have options, and you have boundaries – all without scope creep or quoting fatigue.
This kind of clarity and structure is especially important if you're looking to create a repeatable web design process for clients that’s easy to manage, easier to sell, and still has room for flexibility.
-
It can be easy to assume that a high-quality website takes weeks (or months!) to build — especially when projects stretch out due to missing content, unclear boundaries, or decision fatigue. But with a clear, structured web design client process, a 5-page website can be designed and delivered in just one week.
What makes that possible isn’t rushing. It’s preparation. I’ve found that when clients are supported to gather strong copy, branding and imagery ahead of time, the website design process becomes focused and efficient — and far more enjoyable for everyone involved.
That’s why I shifted from custom timelines to a more intentional web design workflow that prioritises clarity upfront. Once everything is ready, the actual design and build happens over five working days, with space for feedback and refinements built into the schedule.
Every designer works differently, but if you’re looking for a more sustainable rhythm — one that supports both your time and your clients’ experience — the one-week website process could be a great option for you.
-
In my experience, getting clients isn’t about hustling 24/7 – it’s about making it easy for the right people to find you, understand what you offer, and feel confident moving forward.
A big shift for me came when I stopped creating custom proposals from scratch for every project. Instead, I developed a clear, structured web design client process that’s visible from the moment someone lands on my site. That clarity builds trust – and it also saves time for both sides.
Most of my clients find me either through Google or referrals. My sales pages are written with SEO in mind – targeting specific industries and keywords that match the people I want to work with. That means when someone searches for “Squarespace website for photographer” or “web design for health and wellness,” they’re more likely to land on one of my pages and immediately see that it’s a good fit.
Referrals flow naturally from there. When clients enjoy the process – not just the result – they’re more likely to recommend you. That’s why I put so much care into building a calm, clear website design process that’s easy to navigate and feels supportive at every step.
If you're trying to attract new clients, refining your web design workflow and being intentional about your SEO can go a long way – especially when paired with a process that genuinely delivers a good experience.
-
I use fixed pricing for all of my website design services – which has been a complete game-changer in simplifying the sales and web design client process.
Rather than quoting on every new project, I offer pre-scoped, fixed-price one-week website packages that clearly outline what's included, how the process flows, and how long it takes. This brings a real sense of calm and clarity to the experience – which is especially important for clients who feel overwhelmed by tech or decision fatigue.
Charging this way removes all the ambiguity. Clients know what they’re investing from the start, and I know exactly what’s involved. My standard process includes a 50% deposit to book the project and 50% due before launch, which is all managed through my one-week website package. It’s a clean and efficient web design process template that works well for both of us.
If clients need something outside the base package – like branding, SEO, scheduling tools, or e-commerce – I offer fixed-price Add Ons or Design Days. This gives them flexibility without throwing the whole scope off-track, and keeps the overall web design process for clients feeling smooth, professional, and supportive.
-
Handing over a website is one of those final steps that can either feel empowering for your client – or completely overwhelming. Over time, I’ve found that the smoother your web design client process is from the beginning, the easier the website handover becomes.
Once the site is built, I provide everything the client needs to feel confident moving forward: video walkthroughs showing them how to make basic edits, personalised tutorials for their specific setup, and a window of post-launch support in case any questions come up. All of this is prepared in advance and delivered clearly in a beautifully designed website handover guide, so there’s no need for back-and-forth or confusion after launch.
Having a clear website design process also helps manage expectations around what’s included at this stage – like whether things like SEO, scheduling tools or e-commerce are already built in, or can be added later through a structured system (I offer fixed-price add ons for that).
If you’re creating your own web design workflow, it’s worth incorporating a website handover process template that feels supportive for your clients and easy to repeat – especially if you work with small businesses or sensitive clients who value clarity and care.
