One-week website FAQs

Got questions about our Squarespace one-week website service? Let us help you.

Inclusions

  • Absolutely. When we create your new site, we also create up to seven key pages for you and populate them with your words and images.

When your site is handed over to you, it will be fully installed, with the key pages populated with your content and styled with your branding – ready for you to launch!

Click here for more details about the key pages included in each design plus a video walkthrough of each design.

  • The key pages included will depend on the base design you choose.

You can always add additional pages – reach out and we can provide a quote. Alternatively, once the site is handed over to you, you’ll receive videos on how to create additional pages yourself – which will feel super easy with the tutorials we give you.

  • We follow a kind business philosophy, which means we are always fully transparent about our prices. The price and all inclusions for one-week websites is displayed on the sales pages for each design, but, in case you missed it, one-week websites start at $3500 aud (+gst).

  • Lots of support!

You’ll get access to our dedicated client learning portal where you’ll find a training library full of videos we have recorded specifically for your selected design.

You have personal email support from Alana for one month after you site is handed over.

We also have the design day service where you can hire Alana for a day to do any updates or tweaks to your website – and we often offer special client-only discounts too.

  • Your website starter pack will contain some basic SEO guidelines, including the option to write SEO page titles and meta descriptions for each page which we can then input for you as we do your build. And all of our designs follow SEO best practices in regards to heading use and page optimisation.

If we’re migrating your site from another platform (i.e. Wordpress), we also setup URL redirects to protect existing SEO rankings as much as possible and prevent broken links, too.

SEO is a combination of good design (that’s our job) and well-written copy (that’s your job / your copywriter’s job) plus ongoing marketing techniques after the launch of your website (I talk more about this in this article).

If one of your goals is to become more discoverable through search, we recommend working with a copywriter who is experienced in SEO.

Let us know as we can recommend some wonderful SEO specialists and copywriters who can assist in this area.

  • We follow a kind business and design philosophy and we deeply care about creating kind websites that meet accessibility standards. Therefore, we always build our websites with accessibility in mind. However, since full compliance can only be achieved through constant monitoring of a website, we do recommend enlisting the services of an accessibility specialist if a guarantee in compliance is required.

  • We follow a kind business and design philosophy, and care deeply about creating kind websites that have a lower carbon footprint and lessened environmental impact.

All of our designs are intentionally crafted to be as light as possible, using best-practice page optimisation strategies (including limited use of energy-hungry photos and videos, where possible), SEO optimisation and accessibility. Importantly, we carefully craft a clear and concise user journey, meaning your website visitors can find the information they need quickly and easily, reducing the amount of page loads required.

Website emissions are primarily calculated on page weight. We use Google Lighthouse to gauge our success in lowering emissions.

Many factors (including your industry standards, site and design requirements, page views, website platform etc) can impact the overall emissions of a website. Because of this, we can’t guarantee a specific digital carbon rating. If you have specific emissions requirements or ratings that your website must meet, please raise this with us during our initial chat.

  • Our Squarespace designs are super flexible and have been used by many types of businesses and industries. So even if you don’t see a design that’s made for your specific business, chances are we can still help you.

Book a chat with Alana and we can discuss your options.

Branding

  • Absolutely! We know how important it is to have cohesive branding across all your platforms to build trust and recognition with your audience. That’s why we style your chosen base design with your unique business branding. To get the best result for your website, we ask that you provide your branding guide outlining your colour palette and typography (or we can help you create a branding guide for an additional fee).

  • At a minimum, you do need to have a colour palette and font styles defined before building a website – the good news, we can help you with this! Check out the branding kits over this way.

  • Sorry, my friend. In terms of branding for a website, your logo is actually the least important branding element. To put it another way, if you have a logo only, you’re about 25% of the way to having your branding ready for a website.

What’s most important to get a great result, is a carefully curated colour palette and font system.

But, not to worry if you don’t have these yet, we can help you with this! Check out the branding kits over this way.

Squarespace

  • Our one-week website service is a 100% Done For You service. Where as what you’re looking for here is a Do It Yourself (DIY) Squarespace template model.

Because our services are done for you, they are different in the methodology behind how they are created and installed.

In a nut shell: our one-week website designs are not DIY designs and so you will need us to install and configure your website for you.

  • Yes, absolutely. It is totally possible to move around page layouts and add sections to pages easily (just like you would do with any normal Squarespace website).

Just keep in mind that, due to the swift timeline of a one-week website, when we are building your website, we don’t make any page layout changes or customisations.

However, you can make tweaks and adjustments easily to the layouts yourself after the site is handed over – and you'll receive videos on exactly how to do this. Or you can hire Alana to add customisations and tweaks for you.

  • Squarespace is super intuitive to use and our unique design and coding methodology makes it extremely easy for you to update and create new pages so your website can grow with you as your business grows.

Plus, you’ll have access to a video training library which steps you through exactly how to manage and update your site (we literally walk you through your site and show you exactly how to change things).

And don’t just take our word for it, here’s what one of my past clients said:

“I’m one of the least tech savvy people I know, but Alana went out of her way to help me. The videos she provided were easy to follow and I’ve already started creating a new page on my own! I’m completely in love with my new website. It was worth every cent! ” – Lara Darlington, Kinesiologist

  • All one-week website base designs are available on 7.1 only as this is the latest and greatest version of Squarespace.

If you currently have a 7.0 site, book a chat with Alana and we can discuss your migration options.

  • Our aim and top priority is always to build a beautiful website that is also easy for you to update and maintain yourself after the site is handed over to you.

For this reason, at Alana Jade Studio, we use a combination of fluid engine, classic editor and list sections to build your website.

The type of section we use will be dependant on the content in that section and, based on our years of experience in building websites, what we know will be the easiest for you to maintain and update.

We provide detailed videos of each section on every page of your site so you always feel 100% confident and empowered to manage your site going forward and make changes as your business evolves.

  • All our designs require the Business Squarespace plan (see pricing for Squarespace here).

You’ll also need to purchase your domain name (website URL) and possibly an email account. If you choose to host your domain and email account with Squarespace, you may be able to get the first year of domain and email hosting for free.

And if none of this makes sense, don’t worry, book a chat with Alana and we can talk through your specific requirements and we can guide you from there.

  • Sure can. Many of our clients have opted to move from Wordpress to Squarespace. In fact, here’s what one client said about the experience:

“I was looking for a new website that was clean, pleasing on the eye and that I could update without ending up in a crying mess (like I had been with my old Wordpress site). And, let me tell you, this gal did not disappoint! The entire process was easy, effortless and straightforward. She misses NO steps. Not once did I get into overwhelm. I am in love with my new site and can’t believe how quick the whole process was.” – Kirsten Severino, Kinesiologist

Extras, customisations and add ons

  • It depends what the changes are:

Logo, copy and images – absolutely, we populate your new site with your logo, copy and imagery for you

Colour and font changes – yes! We know how important it is to have cohesive branding across all your platforms to build trust and recognition with your audience. This is why colour and font styling with your unique branding is included in the base pricing. You provide a branding guide (or add on a branding kit to your project) and we style your site using your colours and typography from that guide.

Page layout changes – The pages in a one-week website are pre-made and you are fitting your images and words into this already defined layout. While we do add your images and words into your site for you, customisations to the actual layouts and structure of each page are not included in the base pricing and timeline of a one-week website. You could, however, opt to add customisations yourself once the site is handed over using the super helpful video tutorials or you can hire Alana to add customisations and tweaks for you.

  • We can definitely add extra pages – book a chat with Alana and we can provide a quote. Alternatively, once the site is handed over to you, you’ll receive videos on how to create additional pages yourself – which will feel super easy with the tutorials we give you.

  • You sure can.

If you have an existing scheduling system, we can link any button or hyperlink on your website to your booking calendar and form. For some scheduling systems, we can even embed the booking calendar and form directly onto selected pages on your website.

If you don’t yet have a scheduling system, ask us about Acuity Scheduling and if this might work for your business.

Timelines

  • As soon as possible. Because you’re working within an already designed layout, there’s guidelines for your copy, images and branding that you’ll need to follow. The sooner you book in, and we get these guidelines to you, the better.

Alternatively, if you’re not quite at the stage of being ready to book in, grab a copy of the Website Creation Companion which will guide you through everything that is needed for a successful website project.

  • Under 5 business days, my friend!

  • We recommend that you allow at least four weeks between booking your project and the website build week to allow enough time to complete your website starter kit and prepare all your content.

Our schedule tends to book up 1-2 months in advance. However, we can sometimes accommodate rush projects, if you’re working towards a very definite timeline.

Reach out as soon as you can to get the process started.
